Acclimation Procedures

Acclimating your fish upon arrival is the single most important part for insuring their survival. Shipping is very stressful on fish and the sudden change in ph and temperture can kill them quickly.

First float the bag in the tank for about a half hour to ensure that the bag temperature is close to the temperture of the tank they will be going into.

Then open the bags carefully and dump the fish and all of the water into a 5 gallon bucket or similar container.

Slowly add water to the bucket until The entire initial amount has at least trippled. Remove the majority of the water from the bucket and then repeat.

The length of time this will take will depend on your local ph. My ph is very high, around 8.0, so you should adjust the rate the water is going into the bucket so the process will take about 1 hour for every .1 change in ph. If your ph is about 7.5 this should take about 5 hours. 2.5 hours for the first trippling of the water and 2.5 hours for the next.
